Sony BRAVIA Professional Display RS-232 Commands: Complete Control Guide
Sony BRAVIA Professional displays use a binary HEX protocol with a critical Standby Enable requirement that trips up most integrators on the first attempt.

Critical: Standby Enable
Sony BRAVIA Professional displays will not respond to any RS-232 command — including Power On — until you send a Standby Enable command first.
Standby Enable (HEX): 8C 00 00 02 03 91
Send this once after physical connection is established.
Also enable RS-232 control in the display menu: Settings → Professional → Advanced → RS-232C Control → On.

Common Mistakes
- ▸Not sending Standby Enable first — the display ignores all commands including Power On until this is sent
- ▸Sending ASCII instead of HEX — all Sony commands are binary bytes
- ▸Not waiting after power on — wait at least 20 seconds before sending other commands
- ▸3.5mm cable on newer models — BZ and BU series use a 3.5mm jack. Tip=TX, Ring=RX, Sleeve=GND
